Job fairs to be held in every district of Bihar; major announcement by Deputy CM Samrat Chaudhary.
Patna. Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary has made a major announcement for the youth of Bihar seeking employment. He announced that, starting next year, job fairs will be organized in every district of the state. The objective is to provide youth with opportunities to connect with reputed companies and secure jobs within their own districts. While job fairs have previously been held at the state and divisional levels, the new system will extend this initiative to the district level.
Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary made this announcement during the closing ceremony of the five-day ‘Mega Job Fair 2026’ held at Gyan Bhawan in Patna. During the event, he also handed over appointment letters to candidates selected for employment. He stated that the government is working towards creating maximum employment opportunities for the youth. Organizing job fairs at the district level will reduce the need for young people to travel to Patna or other major cities in search of work.
The Mega Job Fair held in Patna from August 19 to 23 witnessed significant participation from the youth. A total of 115 companies participated in the five-day event. These companies, offering employment across various sectors, selected a total of 20,226 young people. A large number of youths had the opportunity to interact directly with company representatives and secure jobs on a single platform.
According to the data, out of the youth selected at the Mega Job Fair, 3,940 were chosen for employment within Bihar itself. Additionally, 476 youths were selected for jobs abroad. The remaining selected candidates secured employment opportunities with companies based in other states across the country. Thus, the job fair has opened avenues for employment for Bihar’s youth not only within the state but also across the country and overseas.
A notable feature of this job fair was the provision of employment opportunities for differently-abled candidates; 36 such individuals were selected for jobs. The government views this as a significant achievement towards an inclusive employment system. While extending his best wishes to the selected candidates for their future, the Deputy Chief Minister encouraged them to progress through hard work and skill development. Following the Chief Minister’s announcement, the scope of job fairs is expected to expand significantly starting next year. Previously, youth from remote districts had to travel long distances to attend large-scale job fairs, incurring both time and financial costs. Organizing job fairs at the district level will provide youth from rural areas and small towns with easier access to companies.
Job opportunities are likely to increase as companies are invited to district-level fairs based on local needs and the skills of the youth. Requirements regarding industries, agro-based businesses, the service sector, construction, technology, and other fields vary across districts. Consequently, establishing direct contact between companies and job seekers at the district level is expected to benefit both parties.
One of the government’s objectives with this initiative is to bring private-sector job opportunities closer to the youth. Information regarding job openings in private companies—unlike government jobs—often fails to reach youth in small towns and rural areas effectively. Through job fairs, companies can directly engage with young people and select candidates based on their qualifications.
Given the participation of 115 companies in the Patna Mega Job Fair, the government may now plan to involve a greater number of reputed companies at the district level as well. The focus will be on providing job options based on educational qualifications, technical training, and skills. This is also likely to help connect youth trained under skill development programs with employment opportunities.
The selection of 476 youths for overseas employment was another major achievement of the Mega Job Fair. For those aspiring to work abroad, accessing companies through safe and institutional channels is crucial. Similarly, the fact that 3,940 youths secured jobs within Bihar offers them the opportunity to work while remaining in their home state.

Extensive administrative arrangements will need to be made to bring companies to the district level, register the youth, and provide employment opportunities tailored to their qualifications.
With the conclusion of the five-day mega job fair in Patna, the government has paved the way to extend this employment drive to the district level. If job fairs are organized regularly in every district, lakhs of youths across the state could gain the opportunity to connect directly with private-sector companies right in their own localities.
