Bihar: Tejashwi Yadav, the Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Assembly and Working President of the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), has targeted the central government over rising inflation. He alleged that the policies of the “double-engine government” are exacerbating the hardships faced by the poor, farmers, and the middle class.
Tejashwi Yadav raised the issue of inflation in a post on his social media handle, ‘X’, on Saturday. He stated that inflation has become a serious problem in the country and that the general public is distressed by the rising prices of daily essentials.
Citing the escalating costs of food items, petrol, diesel, fertilizers, seeds, electricity, and LPG (cooking gas), he noted the direct impact these have on the pockets of common people. Questioning the government’s economic policies, Tejashwi remarked that instead of providing relief, the government is adding to the public’s difficulties.
Increased Pressure on the Poor and Middle Class
Tejashwi Yadav stated that inflation disproportionately affects poor and middle-class families. Rising prices of daily necessities have disrupted household budgets.
He alleged that the continuous hike in food prices is making it difficult for common people to run their households. Meanwhile, rising fuel prices are also impacting transportation costs and the prices of other commodities.
Raising the Issue of Farmers’ Problems
Highlighting the plight of farmers, the RJD leader pointed out that agricultural input costs are constantly rising. The high cost of fertilizers, seeds, and other farming inputs is increasing the financial burden on farmers.
He remarked that despite claims of increasing farmers’ income, their problems persist at the grassroots level. Farming costs and market challenges remain major sources of trouble for farmers.
Questions on LPG and Electricity Prices
Tejashwi Yadav also criticized the government over the rising costs of LPG and electricity. He noted that these expenses constitute a significant portion of the household budget, and price hikes directly impact families.
