Under this, an ex-gratia assistance amount of Rs 7,000 each will be sent to the bank accounts of eligible flood affected families. This amount will be transferred through Direct Benefit Transfer i.e. DBT on October 9. Along with this, the state government has also given instructions to ensure arrangements for dry ration, relief material, animal fodder and shelter in the affected areas.

Many districts of Bihar are currently in the grip of floods. Normal life has been affected due to rise in the water level of rivers and spread of water in many areas. A large number of families in rural areas have had to leave their homes and go to safer places. Crops have been damaged due to water logging in the fields, while road connectivity has also been affected at many places. Relief and rescue operations are being carried out by the government.

Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary took stock of the situation by conducting an aerial survey of the flood affected areas. After this he instructed the officials to speed up the relief work. The Chief Minister said that the families affected by the flood should be identified and timely assistance should be provided to them. The government’s emphasis is on ensuring that no eligible family is deprived of relief.

According to the arrangements made by the government, ex-gratia assistance of Rs 7,000 per family will be given to the families affected by the flood. This amount will be sent directly to the bank account of the beneficiaries. By making payment through DBT, the money will reach the beneficiaries directly and there will be no need for any intermediate process. A list of affected families is being prepared by the administration.

The Chief Minister has given clear instructions to the officials that there should not be any carelessness in identifying the flood affected families. Officials at the district and zonal level have been asked to survey the affected areas and collect details of eligible families. On the basis of this list, ex-gratia assistance amount will be released.

Not only cash assistance but other necessary facilities are also being provided to the flood affected families. The Chief Minister has told the officials that adequate quantity of dry ration and other relief materials should be delivered to the areas where people are facing food problems. It has also been asked to continue arranging relief camps and community meals as per need.

The government has also included the problem of cattle herders in the relief system. Lack of fodder for animals becomes a big problem during floods. The Chief Minister has directed that adequate fodder and safe shelter should be arranged for the animals in the affected areas. This will also provide relief to animal rearing families.

Due to floods in Bihar, houses and goods have been damaged in many areas. Due to waterlogging, people are facing difficulty in meeting their daily needs. At such a time, an assistance amount of Rs 7,000 can prove to be helpful in the initial expenses of the affected families.

The focus of the state government is currently on relief and rescue operations. The administration has been instructed to provide boats, relief material, medicines and other essential items as per requirement in the affected areas. In areas where the water level is high, arrangements are also being made to take people to safe places.

The flood situation is being continuously reviewed at the state level. The status of relief work has been reviewed by holding a meeting with officials at the Chief Secretary level also. Preparations are being made to provide ex-gratia assistance through DBT on October 9.

Providing timely assistance to the affected families has been said to be the priority of the government. People whose houses have been flooded by flood water or who have had to move to safer places are being identified through an administrative survey. After this, relief amount will be given to the eligible families.

It has been clarified by the government that financial assistance will be given on the basis of family. That means, each affected family found eligible will get an amount of seven thousand rupees. Once this amount reaches the bank account, the family will be able to use it for their immediate needs.

Along with ensuring the availability of relief material in the flood affected areas, instructions have also been given to the officials for regular monitoring. The district administration has been asked to make relief arrangements as per the situation at the local level and provide additional resources if needed.

After the aerial survey by Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary, instructions have been given to further speed up the relief work. The government says that arrangements for providing food, shelter, financial assistance and fodder for animals to the affected people should be made on priority.

At present, the most important announcement for the flood affected families is the assistance amount of Rs 7,000 to be received on October 9. The affected families are expected to get immediate financial relief as the amount will come directly into the bank accounts through DBT. Along with this, the government has asked the district administration to ensure that there is no delay in identification of eligible families and distribution of relief.
