CM Saini’s big action on negligence in work, two regional officers of pollution department suspended

Chandigarh. Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, adopting a tough stance against officials who are negligent in government work, has suspended two regional officers of the Pollution Department with immediate effect. Regional officers Akanksha Tanwar and Mukul Kumar have come under the ambit of action. Both the officers are accused of not taking the complaints made by the people regarding the sewer treatment plant seriously and being negligent in discharging their responsibilities.
After the matter came to the notice of Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, immediate action was taken against both the officers. It is being told that there were continuous complaints from the local people regarding the problems related to the sewer treatment plant. Despite this, the concerned officials did not show the required seriousness to solve the problem. After receiving information that timely action was not taken on the complaints, the Chief Minister expressed his displeasure and decided to suspend both the regional officers.
The suspended officers include Akanksha Tanwar and Mukul Kumar. Both were holding the responsibility as regional officers in the pollution department. A complaint related to the sewer treatment plant in his area had come to light. People alleged that they are facing problems due to the problem and despite complaining, effective action is not being taken at the departmental level.
Proper operation of a sewer treatment plant is important for both the environment and people’s health. If the system of proper treatment of sewage is affected, the problem of pollution may arise in the surrounding area. For this reason, it is the responsibility of the pollution control officials to investigate the situation and ensure necessary action when such complaints are received.
It is alleged that the regional authorities did not take the complaints of the people seriously. The matter reached a high level due to complaints not being addressed in time. After Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini got this information, he expressed his displeasure over the functioning of the officials concerned and action of suspension was taken with immediate effect.
This action of the Chief Minister is being seen as a message to ensure accountability in government departments. Officials have been continuously being instructed by the government to resolve public complaints in a timely manner. Despite this, if negligence is noticed at any level, action can be taken against the concerned officer.
Problems related to sewerage and water treatment directly affect the lives of common people. If the sewer treatment plant does not work properly, many problems can arise from the disposal of dirty water to the surrounding environment. In such cases the role of the concerned departments becomes important.
It is also the responsibility of the regional officers of the Pollution Department to monitor the observance of environment related rules in their area and take appropriate action on complaints. After receiving complaints from people, the condition of the concerned site is expected to be investigated and necessary steps taken as per the rules.
After the action taken against Akanksha Tanwar and Mukul Kumar, other officers of the department have also received a clear message that negligence in matters related to public interest will not be accepted. Keeping complaints pending or not taking them seriously can create problems for the authorities.
After Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini suspended both the officers with immediate effect, further departmental process will also be adopted in the matter. The allegations and related circumstances may be investigated during the suspension. Further action will be decided based on the facts emerging in the investigation.
In government departments, accountability regarding resolution of complaints of common people is considered important. Especially in matters related to environment and pollution, delay can have an impact on a large population. Any problems with systems like sewer treatment plants require immediate inspection and resolution.
In this case too, both the regional officials have been accused of not taking the complaints of the local people seriously. After the matter reached the Chief Minister, there was no delay in taking action and both were suspended.
After this action of Haryana Government, there has been an increase in commotion in the pollution department also. The officers will have to shoulder the responsibility of redressal of public complaints and regular monitoring of environment related problems in the area. When a complaint is received, the emphasis will be on ensuring resolution of the problem instead of mere formality.
At present, Akanksha Tanwar and Mukul Kumar have been suspended with immediate effect. Both the officers are accused of not taking the complaint related to the sewer treatment plant seriously and being negligent in their work. The facts related to the case will be investigated in further departmental action.
This action of Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini has given a clear indication that accountability of officers will be fixed in matters related to the problems of common people. Now, along with resolving the complaints related to the sewer treatment plant, it will also be seen that such negligence at the departmental level does not happen again.
