Abhijit Deepke’s warning to Amit Shah goes viral; VIDEO

New Delhi. Major demonstrations took place in Delhi and Mumbai on 2 October demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. Protestors belonging to political parties, student organizations and civic groups gathered in Delhi, while a large number of people demonstrated under the leadership of CJP in Mumbai’s Shivaji Park. The protesters are demanding the resignation of the Chief Election Commissioner, alleging irregularities in the Special Intensive Revision of Voters List or SIR. However, the Election Commission and the Central Government have denied the allegations of irregularities in the election process.
Protestors in Delhi tried to move towards Jantar Mantar. During this time the police detained a large number of people. Different reports state different numbers of people detained. The Indian Express reported more than 550 people being detained, while other reports put the figure at 700 or more. Along with leaders of political parties, people associated with student and youth organizations also participated in the demonstration.
On the same day, a protest was also held against the Chief Election Commissioner in Mumbai’s Shivaji Park. A large number of youth participated in this demonstration led by CJP founder Abhijit Deepke. Many well-known faces including actor Naseeruddin Shah, Shabana Azmi, musician Vishal Dadlani and Mahatma Gandhi’s great grandson Tushar Gandhi were also present at the event. The main demands of the protesters were the resignation of Gyanesh Kumar and ensuring greater transparency in the election process.
Amidst the protest, a video of Abhijeet Deepke is also being discussed on social media. Addressing the demonstration in Mumbai, he targeted the central government and BJP. Referring to the police action against protesters at Jantar Mantar in July 2026, Deepke took the name of Union Home Minister Amit Shah and warned to avoid repeating the previous action. This statement is Deepke’s political allegation and warning; This should not be seen as an independently established fact.
In his address, Deepke also made many allegations regarding the deletion of names of voters under SIR. He claimed that names have been removed from voter lists on a large scale and this raises questions on the fairness of the elections. However, these claims are disputed. A review by Hindustan Times did not find a direct link between the removal of names and election results in constituencies, while some names were also removed for reasons such as death and transfer. The Election Commission has also defended its decisions and process.
After the demonstrations in Delhi and Mumbai, CJP has announced to continue the movement. Deepke has said that if Gyanesh Kumar does not resign, another demonstration will be held at Jantar Mantar in Delhi on October 10. Describing it as a peaceful movement, he has called upon people from different parts of the country to join it.
The demand for resignation of the Chief Election Commissioner has also received support from some opposition leaders. Leader of the opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi also demanded the resignation of Gyanesh Kumar on October 2 and raised questions over the police action against the protesters. On the other hand, in the dispute related to the Election Commission, the allegations of irregularities have not been accepted by the government and the Commission.
During the demonstration in Mumbai, a large number of youth arrived with the tricolor in their hands and placards with different messages. Issues related to election system, voter list and accountability of the Election Commission were raised in the demonstration. CJP has also talked about taking this movement to other cities.
Many videos related to the demonstration are going viral on social media. It has also come to light that old videos are being shared by linking them to the current performance. Fact-checking a viral video found it to be an old video from 2024, so it would not be correct to consider every scene circulated on social media as the October 2 protest.
At present, it has been announced that the protest which started demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar will be extended from Delhi and Mumbai. CJP has talked about a new demonstration at Jantar Mantar on October 10. In such a situation, now the focus will be on how the movement progresses in the coming days and what is the further reaction from the Election Commission on the allegations being made by the protesters.
