Big decision of Brahmin society, complete ban on dowry and death feast will also be stopped.

Palwal. In Palwal district of Haryana, the Brahmin community has taken a big step against social evils. In the Mahapanchayat held at Brahmin Dharamshala on Friday, many important decisions were taken to eliminate social problems like dowry system, death feast and drug addiction. In the Mahapanchayat, it was decided to stop the tradition of death feast along with a complete ban on giving and taking dowry. Committees will be formed at village and sector level to effectively implement these decisions in the society.

A large number of people from different areas of Palwal district attended the Mahapanchayat. District President of Brahmin Sabha Vinod Sharma presided over the program. About two thousand people including Minister Gaurav Gautam and MLA Moolchand Sharma participated in the Mahapanchayat. Various issues related to social reforms were discussed in the meeting and people of the society were appealed to follow the new system.

The most important decision in the Mahapanchayat was taken regarding the dowry system. The people of the society decided that dowry will neither be taken nor given during the marriage. The objective of this decision is to reduce the economic and social pressure on families during marriage. The people present in the meeting stressed the need for collective efforts to end this social evil.

It was said in the Mahapanchayat that merely passing the resolution will not bring social change, but it is also necessary to implement it at the ground level. For this reason, it has been decided to form separate committees at village and sector level. These committees will contact the people of the society and try to ensure implementation of the decisions taken in the Mahapanchayat.

Along with dowry, a big decision was also taken regarding the funeral feast. The society has decided to stop the tradition of feasts being organized after death. It was discussed in the Mahapanchayat that due to such traditions many times there is additional financial burden on families. Therefore, it was decided to take a collective initiative towards eliminating it at the society level.

Concern was also expressed in the Mahapanchayat about the increasing influence of drugs. The society has decided to run a special campaign against drug addiction. Through the campaign, youth and families will be made aware of the harm caused by drugs. Representatives of the society in villages and urban areas will contact people and inspire them to adopt a drug-free life.

The role of youth was also considered important in the campaign against social evils. The people present in the Mahapanchayat said that without the support of the new generation, it will not be easy to completely eliminate dowry, drug addiction and other social problems. Therefore, emphasis was laid on connecting the youth with the campaign and motivating them to come forward for social reform.

In this Mahapanchayat held under the chairmanship of District President of Brahmin Sabha Vinod Sharma, representatives from various villages and cities of the district expressed their views. In the meeting, discussions were held to maintain social unity and end such traditions spread in the society, due to which families have to face economic or social problems.

The decisions taken in the Mahapanchayat will not be limited to Palwal city only. A plan has been made to deliver these to the villages and sectors of the district. Local level people will be given responsibility in the committees formed for this. These committees will inform people about the decisions of the Mahapanchayat through meetings and awareness programs in their respective areas.

Collective initiative from the society was considered important to end the dowry system. In the Mahapanchayat, it was emphasized that marriage should be kept away from ostentation and financial transactions. Families should not come under pressure to spend more than their capacity and efforts should be made to conduct marriages in a simple manner.

Similarly, the decision to stop the death feast was also considered important from the economic and social point of view. After a death in a family, the family members are already in a state of grief. At such times, the tradition of organizing a feast can put additional responsibility on the family. In view of this, the society collectively decided to stop this tradition.

In the Mahapanchayat, emphasis was also laid on mutual cooperation and solidarity along with social reform. The people of the society were asked to adopt these decisions at personal level and also make others aware about them. Voluntary participation of people was considered necessary for any social change.

Due to the presence of about two thousand people including Minister Gaurav Gautam and MLA Moolchand Sharma, a large participation was seen in the Mahapanchayat. People from different areas discussed the decision to run a campaign against social evils.

Now committees will be formed at village and sector level to implement the decisions taken in the Mahapanchayat. Through these committees, work will be done to stop taking and giving dowry, stop death feasts and spread awareness against drug addiction.

After this Mahapanchayat organized in Palwal, the Brahmin community has made it clear that the campaign against social evils will be carried out continuously. Along with stopping traditions like dowry and death feasts, special attention will be given to making people aware against drug addiction. The society hopes that with collective efforts and activeness of local committees, these decisions will be made effective at the grassroots level.
