Assam woman BJP leader murdered: Husband files complaint against IGP Upadhyay
Guwahati (IANS) | An FIR has been lodged against CID IGP Debraj Upadhyay by her husband Chandra Kumar Nath in connection with the murder of Assam woman BJP leader Junali Nath in Goalpara district of Assam. According to a complaint lodged by Chandra Kumar on Tuesday evening, the case was turned over to the CID. How the accused committed the murder while driving is not clear in the investigation report.
Chandra Kumar said, the extramarital affair angle of the police in the case is unacceptable and Junali Nath’s character is unquestionable.
We have experienced a lot of stress as a result of the inconvenient investigation, claimed Chandra Kumar.
Junali’s family has demanded an apology from the police, demanding the withdrawal of the news release and a thorough investigation to identify the culprit.
Earlier on Tuesday, the police had claimed that Junali was murdered by her lover Hasnoor Islam.
Islam was taken into custody by the police on Monday evening and the Assam CID said that Nath had a relationship with Islam for more than two years.
Upadhyay told the press that during police interrogation, Islam had confessed to having a relationship with Junali for more than two years. Upadhyay told the press that Islam said Junali was upset since he had married another woman.
Upadhyay said Islam said that when Junali came to meet him on Sunday night, he made her sit in his car in Matiya area of Goalpara, after which a fight started inside the car.
When she was questioning her marriage, Islam hit her several times on her face, which rendered her unconscious, the officer said.
After the postmortem, the doctors said that some heavy object was used to kill Junali, but Islam told the police that he hit Junali on the face till she died.
Upadhyay said, when Islam came to know that Junali was dead, he left her near the road and left. He also slammed his head on the hard side of the car. There were blood stains on the car and we have found it.
