Strict action should be taken on illegal mining, transportation and storage of minerals: Collector

Collector Sanjeev Jha took a review meeting of the District Level Task Force Committee constituted for the prevention of illegal mining and transportation of minerals in the collectorate assembly hall. In the meeting, he inquired about the action taken on illegal mining, transportation and storage of minerals in the district. Along with this, the members of the task force committee were instructed to take strict action against illegal mining, transportation and storage of minerals by visiting their respective areas. The collector directed the SECL management to take necessary action to prevent theft of coal in the SECL mining area. Along with this, the vehicles engaged in mineral transportation were directed to transport them systematically by covering them with tarpaulin.
The collector also gave instructions to make monthly report/tax assessment of the mining sector in time. Collector Jha asked all the gram panchayats, urban bodies of the district to start the identified ghats for mineral sand mining as soon as possible under the Chhattisgarh Minor Mineral Ordinary Sand Excavation and Business Rules 2023. He also instructed the DFO, Tehsildar and all Janpad Panchayats to provide the investigation report and demarcation report for allotting the identified ghats. Superintendent of Police Udayakiran, Commandant CISF Bhaskar Kumar along with all SDMs and officers of Forest Department, Environment Department, Transport Department and Police Department were present in the meeting.
