IAS officer’s bail plea rejected

Raipur. Today in the court of Special Judge ED Ajay Singh Rajput, Sandhya has rejected the anticipatory bail plea of former Excise Commissioner IAS Niranjan Das. With this, the chances of his arrest have increased. The ED wants to interrogate Das regarding the liquor scam worth Rs 2,000 crore and he is absconding and roaming around Mumbai etc. In this case, ED has arrested Special Secretary Excise AP Tripathi and sent him to jail.
The decision has come on the anticipatory bail petition of IAS Niranjan Das, former secretary of the Excise Department. ED’s Special Court Judge Ajay Singh Rajput’s court has canceled the anticipatory bail plea of Niranjan Das. To avoid being caught by ED for about 6 days, the accused former secretary had appealed for an advance to the special judge of ED, after postponing his decision twice, the bail plea has been rejected on Wednesday. To avoid being caught by ED for about 6 days, the accused former secretary had appealed for an advance to the special judge of ED, after postponing his decision twice, the bail plea has been rejected on Wednesday.
It is said that the ED had also questioned IAS Niranjan Das on the alleged 2000 crore excise scam case. Later he was released, soon after leaving, Mr. Das’s health started deteriorating and he had to be admitted to Vedanta first in Mumbai and then in Delhi. During this, ED nabbed Anwar Dhebar, Nitesh Purohit, Trilok Singh alias Pappu Dhillon, Arunpati Tripathi and Arvind Singh. But till now Niranjan Das has not been arrested by ED in this case. For his arrest itself, Niranjan Das, through his lawyer, appealed for anticipatory bail to the special judge on the basis of ill health and other practical difficulties in his application for anticipatory bail. After the rejection of his appeal today, the doors of High Court and Supreme Court are open for Niranjan Das. Along with this, ED can also pick up Das after sending him a notice for questioning.
