10 percent water cut from July 1

Mumbai | There will be a 10 percent water cut in Mumbai from July 1. Let us tell you that due to insufficient rains in Maharashtra, the level of water supply lakes has reduced, due to which the city’s civic body has decided to cut water by 10 percent from Saturday.

Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) commissioner Iqbal Singh Chahal has appealed to the people to save water and use it wisely. He said on Wednesday that the BMC has decided to cut water supply in Mumbai by 10 per cent from July 1, as the stock of lakes that supply water to the city is only seven per cent.

Mumbai receives 3,800 million liters of water per day from seven reservoirs Bhatsa, Upper Vaitarna, Tansa, Modak Sagar, Vihar and Tulsi which are spread over Mumbai, Thane and Nashik districts. According to the BMC report, there was 7.26 per cent stock at seven lakes at 6 am on Wednesday. The lakes had 9.04 and 16.44 per cent water stock respectively on the same day last year and 2021.
