Bengal school recruitment scam: ED finds documents given by Sayoni Ghosh insufficient
Kolkata (IANS). Enforcement Directorate (ED) officials probing the multi-crore school recruitment scam in West Bengal are not satisfied with the documents sent by them regarding bank accounts and assets details of state Trinamool Youth Congress President Sayoni Ghosh and her family members. Are.
Sources said actress-turned-politician Ghosh was to appear at the ED’s Salt Lake office on the northern outskirts of Kolkata on July 5 with relevant documents. But instead of appearing in person, he sent a last-minute message to the officials of the central agency expressing his inability to appear and a set of documents sought through his lawyer.
However, sources said that on re-examining the documents, the officials of the central agency found that some important documents sought by them from Ghosh were missing.
One of the key documents missing in this regard pertained to a residential flat registered in the name of his mother. Besides, the sale documents pertaining to a particular plot of land have also not been submitted by them, the source said.
The investigating officers of the central agency are of the view that unless these documents are available, they will not be able to get a clear picture of the sources and destinations of fund transactions.
Expressing her inability to appear for questioning on Wednesday, Ghosh informed the central agency officials that she can appear for questioning any time and any day after the counting of votes for the upcoming panchayat elections on July 11.
Earlier, on June 30, after an 11-hour marathon questioning in connection with the school recruitment case, Ghosh had claimed that she would appear for questioning as and when the central agency called her.
She had said on June 30, “I will appear every time I am asked to appear. I have been questioned for 11 hours today. Even if I am questioned for 24 hours in future, I will be ready to face it.” I’m ready.”
