7 year old child drowned in drain

Jaipur (IANS). A seven-year-old boy drowned in a rain drain in Jaipur while trying to retrieve his slippers from the water. Police officials gave this information on Tuesday.

The incident came to light after heavy rain lashed the city on Monday. A few hours after the incident, the body was found about 900 meters away from the spot.

Locals saw the boy swimming and pulled him out of the water. The child was taken to the hospital where doctors declared him brought dead.

Rishi Kumar, a Class I student, was playing outside the house with his brother when his slipper fell into the water.

He ran after her and while trying to catch her, slipped and fell into the drain.

Angry residents raised slogans against the municipal corporation and the administration.

SDM Mukta Rao reached the spot and announced Rs 10 lakh cash, dairy allocation and removal of encroachments.

Meanwhile, Mayor Saumya Gurjar issued a notice to the commissioner JMC Greater saying, “A child has died after being swept away in water during heavy rains in Murlipura zone of JMC Greater.”

He said that a report in this matter should be submitted immediately without any delay.
