Red alert for heavy rains in Uttarakhand, holiday in schools of 9 districts
Dehradun (IANS). The Meteorological Department has issued a red alert regarding the possibility of heavy rains in Uttarakhand. According to the Meteorological Center, there may be heavy to very heavy rain across the state on Tuesday.
There is a possibility of heavy rains in Haridwar, Dehradun, Pauri and Tehri districts. People have been appealed to be careful and take precautions. Monsoon is active in the state and heavy rains are continuing. Meanwhile, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami did a surprise inspection of the disaster control room late at night. He inspected the Disaster Control Room located at the Secretariat and interacted with the officers on duty. He said that all the officers engaged in disaster control should remain on alert mode for 24 hours and maintain coordination and communication with all the districts.
He also talked about strict action against the negligent officers. In view of the rising water level of the rivers, he has instructed the District Magistrates of all the districts to send the people living near the river to safe places. He said that wherever the roads in the state are closed due to rain, they should be opened for traffic. The places where tourists are stranded, they should also be sent to safe places. He also talked to the District Magistrates of many districts through telephone to know the situation in their districts. In view of heavy rains, a holiday has been declared for schools in 9 districts of the state.
