CBI arrested a post master in bribery case
New Delhi (IANS). The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested a post master for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe from a person. The accused is posted as a post master at Badgaon Post Office in Gonda, Uttar Pradesh. An official gave this information on Tuesday.
A senior CBI official said that a case was registered on a complaint against Raja Ram Yadav for allegedly demanding bribe from the victim to release the matured NSC purchased from the post office by the complainant’s mother.
It was further alleged that the accused had inflated the amount of bribe to settle the claim of the nominated persons during the verification. CBI laid a trap and caught the accused red-handed while demanding and accepting bribe from the complainant.
Searches were conducted at the premises of the accused, in which Rs 7,00,000 in cash were recovered apart from several incriminating documents. The arrested accused was produced in the court, from where he was sent to judicial custody till July 20.
