CM Bhupesh Baghel pays tribute to 29 policemen, including Vinod Chaubey, who were martyred in the Madanwada Naxal violence, on their martyrdom day
Raipur. Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel paid his humble tribute to martyr Vinod Chaubey and 28 policemen who were martyred along with him while fighting the Naxalites on their martyrdom day.
The Chief Minister tweeted that on July 12, 2009, the brave Superintendent of Police, Late Mr. Vinod Chaubey ji, and his team sacrificed their lives for Chhattisgarh while taking on the Naxalites in the forests of Madanwada in Rajnandgaon. We all bow down to such great martyrs and offer our wreaths. We are all proud of you. Jai Hind.
It is noteworthy that SP Vinod Chaubey was the country’s first IPS officer martyred in Chhattisgarh’s Naxal operation. He was posthumously awarded the Kirti Chakra. He was martyred in an encounter during the Naxal attack. That attack was the first Naxalite attack in the country in which an SP was martyred. Apart from the SP, 28 policemen also lost their lives in this Naxalite attack.
Late Vinod Chaubey, Sub Inspector Komal Sahu, Sub Inspector Dhanesh Sahu, Head Constable Sundar Lal Chaudhary, Head Constable Dushyant Singh, Constable Premchand Paswan, Constable Arvind Sharma, Head Constable Geeta Bhandari, Head Constable Zacharias Khalkho, Head Constable Sanjay Yadav, Constable Prakash Verma, Constable Beduram Suryavanshi, Constable Subhash Kumar Behera, Constable Tikeshwar Deshmukh, Constable Suryapal Vatti, Constable Ajay Kumar Bhardwaj, Constable Manoj Verma, Constable Lokesh Chedaiya, Constable Shyamlal Bhoi, Constable Mithlesh Kumar Sahu, Constable Rajnikant, Constable Nikesh Sahu, Constable Santram Sahu, Constable Jhaduram Sahu, Constable Amit Nayak, Constable Vedprakash Yadav, Constable Ritesh Kumar Vaishnav, and Constable Lalbahadur Nag were martyred during the encounter with Naxals.
