Naxalite commander Khudi Munda surrendered in Jharkhand with a reward of six lakhs
Ranchi (IANS). Six lakh prize Khudi Munda of the banned Naxalite organization CPI Maoist has surrendered. Jharkhand Police had put a reward of five lakh on him and the NIA had kept a reward of one lakh.
On Wednesday, he himself surrendered at Kurumgarh police station in Gumla. His rank in the Naxalite organization was that of the sub-zonal commander.
However, the police have not yet officially announced his surrender. Police is interrogating him.
Dozens of cases are registered against him in many police stations of Gumla, Simdega and Latehar. Khudi has been involved in the case of blowing up the Chainpur block building and attacking the Chainpur police and killing four policemen.
Actually, Khudi Munda was scared after two Naxalites were killed in the police operation. On June 1 this year, Rajesh Oraon, a resident of Tunjo village, carrying a reward of three lakhs, was killed by the police in an encounter on Anjan and Marwa road.
On the other hand, on June 2, Commander Lajim Ansari, carrying a reward of six lakhs, was killed in the Tongo forest of Chainpur. Khudi Munda’s morale had fallen after these incidents. He had also become helpless due to increasing age. Here, the police has been running a continuous campaign against the Naxalites. Because of this many Naxalites have surrendered.
