Earthquake of magnitude 3.0 hits Gujarat’s Kutch
Kutch (IANS). An earthquake of magnitude 3.0 was felt near the India-Pakistan International Border in the Kutch region of Gujarat. Official sources gave this information on Friday.
According to the Gandhinagar-based Institute of Seismological Research (ISR), the seismic event occurred at 12:16 am and was centered about 35 km north-northwest of Khavda (Kutch) at a depth of 10 km.
This earthquake is the second significant seismic activity recorded in the Kutch region this month. On 3 July there was a 3.4 magnitude earthquake in Rapar.
The epicenter of that earthquake was located just a few kilometers away from Chobari village, which was also the epicenter of the devastating earthquake that hit the region in 2001. ISR is closely monitoring the seismic activity in the region to get better data on geological dynamics.
