Another leopard died in Kuno National Park
Bhopal (IANS). Once again bad news is coming for wildlife lovers from Kuno National Park located in Sheopur district of Madhya Pradesh. Here the male leopard named Suraj has died. This is the second cheetah death this week. The cause of Sooraj’s death has not been disclosed.
According to the information received from the sources of the Forest Department, a leopard named Suraj died on Friday. He has been found dead. Some injury marks have also been found on Sooraj’s body. It is feared that there was a violent clash between Tejas and Suraj in the past. In which both were injured. Wounds were also found on Tejas’s body. However, in the post-mortem report, Tejas’s death was attributed to weakness of the internal organs. Suraj also has some wounds on his body.
It is to be known that the team of cheetahs brought from South Africa was released by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on his birthday on 17 September 2022 at Kuno National Park. So far a total of eight cheetahs have died here.
Congress state president Kamal Nath tweeted on the death of the leopard and said – Today the news of the death of the eighth leopard was received in Kuno National Park. Despite the continuous death of cheetahs, no such plan has come forward so far, in which any initiative has been taken to preserve the life of these wild animals. Making wild animals an object of attraction for political exhibitionism does not suit the elected representatives of a democracy.
He further said- I urge the responsible people to discuss with environmentalists and scientists and make such a plan soon, by which the lives of these creatures can be saved.
