Delhi floods: Kejriwal assigns district-wise responsibility to ministers

New Delhi (IANS). Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Saturday assigned district-wise responsibility for flood relief to all cabinet ministers.

Kejriwal had called an emergency meeting with his cabinet ministers on Saturday evening to discuss the current flood situation and speed up relief efforts.

During the meeting, one flood-affected district each was allotted to the ministers.

Kejriwal has given charge of South-East district to Home Minister Kailash Gehlot, Irrigation and Flood Control Minister Saurabh Bhardwaj in charge of East district, Revenue Minister Atishi in charge of North-East district, Social Welfare Minister Raj Kumar Anand in charge of North district, Central Food has been entrusted with the charge of the district. and to Civil Supplies Minister Imran Hussain and Shahdara District Development Minister Gopal Rai.

It added, “Each minister will be accountable and responsible for providing essential services including food, water, electricity, medical aid and other necessary facilities in the relief camps of their respective districts.”

Meanwhile, Bhardwaj said that the concerned ministers have been entrusted with the important task of monitoring the relief operations in their designated districts. He added that they will work diligently to ensure that affected residents receive the necessary help and support during this challenging time.

“In addition, district officers will report directly to appointed ministers and follow their instructions, streamlining the communication and coordination process for a more efficient response to the crisis,” he added.

He said, “The Delhi government has set up relief camps in all the six districts of the city. Arvind Kejriwal has now assigned the responsibility of each of these districts to six different ministers. The concerned ministers are now responsible for ensuring that their All the relief camps and rehabilitation centers in the districts are equipped with necessary facilities.

Earlier on Saturday, Kejriwal had mentioned on Twitter about the decrease in Yamuna’s level.

He wrote, “The water level in Yamuna river is receding gradually. If there is no heavy rain again, the situation will become normal soon. Work has been started to remove water from Chandrawal and Wazirabad water treatment plants. Hope Hope both the plants will be operational by tomorrow. Please take care and help each other in distress.”
