Dengue wreaks havoc in this country, highest number of deaths in a day

Dhaka: Bangladesh has recorded the highest number of deaths in a single day due to dengue. With this, the death toll from the disease has gone up to 127 since January this year. Health officials gave this information. According to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), 13 dengue deaths were reported in 24 hours, Xinhua news agency reported. Also in the same period, 1,533 new cases were registered in the country. With this, its number increased to 16,022 this month. So far this year, the DGHS has recorded 24,000 dengue cases and 18,304 recoveries. Bangladesh is expected to report 281 dengue deaths in 2022, which is the highest after 179 deaths were recorded in 2019. Last year, there were 2,423 dengue cases and 61,971 recoveries in the country.
