Jackfruit starts arriving in the markets as soon as the summer starts. Its vegetable is as tasty as it is to eat, it is equally beneficial for health. You can easily make it for lunch or dinner. You must have prepared and eaten jackfruit at home in many ways, but have you tried jackfruit curry? It is enough to change the taste of your food. If you make it at home then everyone from kids to elders will like its taste. This vegetable is also a better option for the guests coming home. Let’s know the easy method of making jackfruit curry.
Ingredients needed to make jackfruit curry
for marination
Jackfruit – 500 grams
Curd – 1/2 cup
Chili powder – 1/2 tsp
Turmeric – 1/4 tsp
Kasuri fenugreek – 1 teaspoon
Ginger-garlic paste – 1 tsp
salt – as per taste
Garam masala – 1/2 tsp
Oil (for frying) – 2 tsp
for curry
Oil – 2 tbsp
Bay leaves – 2
Cinnamon – 1 inch
Cardamom – 4
Cloves – 5
Cumin – 1 teaspoon
Finely chopped onion – 1
Ginger garlic paste – 1 tsp
Turmeric – 1/2 tsp
Chili powder – 1 tsp
Coriander powder – 1 tsp
Cumin powder – 1/2 tsp
salt – as per taste
Finely chopped tomatoes – 2
Water – 1 cup
Garam masala – 1/4 tsp
Coriander leaves (finely chopped) – 2 tbsp

To make jackfruit curry, first take a jackfruit and cut it into small pieces. Now keep these pieces in a big utensil. Keep in mind that before changing the color, soak the jackfruit in salt water. You can also use frozen or canned jackfruit for this. Now add curd, chilli powder, turmeric, kasoori methi, ginger-garlic paste, salt and garam masala. Mix this mixture well and marinate for about 30 minutes. Now heat 2 tablespoons of oil in a pan and add spiced jackfruit to it. Now fry it on medium flame and cook the jackfruit well.
On the other hand, take a large pan and heat 2 tbsp oil in it. Now add bay leaves, cinnamon, cardamom, cloves and cumin seeds. Keep stirring this mixture till it smells. Now add onion and ginger-garlic paste to it. When the onions turn golden, lower the flame and add turmeric, chilli powder, coriander powder, cumin powder and salt. After cooking for some time, we will put tomatoes in it, which will cook till they become soft. Now add fried raw jackfruit to it and mix well.
Now add water as required and let it cook covered for about 15 minutes. Garnish by adding garam masala and green coriander after the vegetable is cooked. Now this yummy can be served with roti, naan or rice.
