Speeding car crushes people in Ahmedabad, 9 killed, builder’s son accused
Ahmedabad (IANS). Nine people were killed when a speeding Jaguar car ran over a crowd on the ISKCON bridge in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. Whereas, 13 people are injured. The car was being driven by a college student.
The student has been identified as Tathya Pragnesh Patel, who is the son of a wealthy builder and is in his second year of college.
Tathya Patel was driving with his friends. In the meantime, he lost control over the speeding SUV (GJ 01 WK 93), which led to the accident.
Her father Pragnesh Patel has a criminal history, including being accused in a rape case in Rajkot in 2020.
Patel lives in a lavish bungalow called ‘Hare Shanti’ opposite Gokul Farm House in Gota area of Ahmedabad. His house is located about 700 meters from the SG Highway and eight kilometers from the accident site.
Denying any wrongdoing by his son, Pragnesh Patel said, “Tathya and his friends left home around 11 pm to have coffee. The car is registered in my partner’s name. Tathya had two female and two male friends in the car. Pan masala, drugs or alcohol – nothing my son has ever done in his life.”
He said that “he and his wife received a phone call informing them of Tathya’s involvement.” He claimed that “he reached the accident site where people were attacking Tathya.”
Pragnesh Patel said that “he took his son to a private hospital and informed the Satellite Police about the incident.”
He also reported that “according to Tathya’s friends, the speed of the car when it hit the crowd did not exceed 100 km/h.”
Sources said that after the accident, Pragnesh Patel reached the spot and allegedly by influencing the police, got his son to leave.
Home Minister Harsh Shanghvi has said that such intimidating behavior will not be tolerated. When questioned about the allegations of Pragnesh Patel brandishing a gun and threatening the crowd, he denied the claims.
Please tell that five people including Pragnesh Patel alias Pragnesh Gota were accused of gang rape of a girl from Rajkot. Pragnesh Patel has also gone to jail in the matter of land grab.
