India Block leaders angry with Sharad Pawar going to share stage with PM Modi in Pune
New Delhi (IANS). The third meeting of the Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance ie India is going to be held in Mumbai on 25 and 26 August. But before that, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) supremo Sharad Pawar is scheduled to share the stage with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Pune on August 1. Some leaders of the block have expressed concern over this.
A party source said that during the floor leaders’ meeting of the India block on Friday, some members raised concerns over Pawar being the chief guest at the function where Modi is to be honored with the Lokmanya Tilak Award.
The source said there were suggestions that Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge may talk to the NCP leader and request him not to attend the function.
The source said some leaders of the India Bloc felt that Pawar sharing the dais with the Prime Minister would backfire when like-minded opposition parties are coming together to take on the BJP in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
The source also said that by sharing the dais with Modi, Pawar would damage the image of the India Bloc, which has gone through a lot of effort in building it, and would also send a wrong message among the people. He says that PM Modi has compared the East India Company with the terrorist organization Indian Mujahideen.
The NCP chief has been invited as the chief guest for the function organized by the Tilak Smarak Mandir Trust.
Pawar will hand over the award to Modi during the event.
Meanwhile, India’s third meeting will be held in Mumbai on August 25 and 26 and will be hosted by Shiv Sena (UBT) and Pawar-led NCP.
