Tomato price hiked again
Raipur. Tomato prices are increasing in entire Chhattisgarh including Raipur. Actually, the main reason for this is said to be the low arrival of tomatoes due to heavy rains across the country. For the first time in Chhattisgarh, tomatoes are being sold at Rs 200 per kg. Tomato reached a new peak of Rs 180 to 200 per kg in various markets of the capital on Saturday, while it was selling above Rs 100-120 per kg for almost two months. Whereas, tomatoes are being sold at Rs.180 in Jagdalpur, Rs.120 in Bilaspur, Rs.140-150 in Ambikapur, while Rs.120-140 per kg in Durg-Bhilai.
President of Sriram Wholesale Vegetable Seller Committee Doomartarai T. Srinivasa Reddy said that the arrival of tomatoes has stopped due to rain. The Raipur market for tomatoes is currently dependent only on Bengaluru. For the last several days, only 3 to 4 trucks of tomatoes are coming. On normal days, 15 to 20 trucks of tomatoes arrive. Only 3 trucks of tomatoes were supplied on Saturday. This is the reason why tomato prices have reached an all-time high.
It is being sold in bulk at Rs 140 per kg. While in the retail market it reached the level of 180 to 200 rupees. This is a historic increase in the price of tomato.
