ED attaches assets worth Rs 6.2 cr of Lalu family in land-for-job scam case
New Delhi (IANS). The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has attached assets worth Rs 6 crore 2 lakh of former Railway Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav and his family members in the land-for-job scam case.
These properties are located in Ghaziabad and Patna areas of Bihar.
The central probe agency has initiated PMLA probe on the basis of CBI’s FIR.
The CBI had registered a case against the then Railway Minister Lalu Yadav, his wife Rabri Devi, two daughters and 15 others including unknown public servants and private persons.
“During the period 2004-2009, Yadav received pecuniary advantage in the form of transfer of landed property in the name of his family members in lieu of officiating appointments to Group ‘D’ posts in various zones of the Railways,” the official said.
Several residents of Patna themselves or through their family members sold and gifted their land in favor of Yadav’s family members and a private company controlled by Yadav and his family.

The CBI had said, “In continuation of this modus operandi, approximately 1,05,292 square meters of immovable properties located in Patna were acquired by Yadav and his family members through five sale deeds and two gift deeds, comprising majority of the land.” The transfer showed payment in cash to the seller. ,
