Big drug racket busted in Tamil Nadu’s Nagapattinam
Chennai (IANS). Tamil Nadu Police busted a major drug racket in Nagapattinam and arrested six people. In fact, six people who were trying to smuggle 300 kg of ganja into Sri Lanka were detained by the Nagapattinam police on Monday. The police is looking for the accomplices of the arrested people.
Those arrested have been identified as V. Ravi (42) of Agastyampally, M. Lakshmanan (43) of Kodiyakkadu, M. Ravi (28) of Thethakudi and K.K. Vedamani (32), M. Kumar (41) of Kunnam, Perambalur district, and J. Born as Mayakrishnan (29).
Nagapattinam police sources told IANS that raids were being conducted at the residential premises of those who are alleged to be involved in drug peddling.
With the help of this racket, drugs were transported from the border areas of Odisha and Andhra Pradesh to Nagapattinam.
The accused were trying to smuggle through the sea route. These smugglers were arrested on the basis of intelligence received by the police.
The police have registered a case against the above six persons under the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act.
