Security beefed up in Puducherry ahead of President Draupadi Murmu’s visit
Puducherry (IANS). President Draupadi Murmu will be on a visit to Puducherry on Monday. He will be received at the airport by Lieutenant Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan and Union Territory Chief Minister N Rangaswamy.
Security has been beefed up for the visit and around 1000 police personnel have been deployed to provide security to the President. Two companies of paramilitary forces have also been deployed for the security of the VVIP guest.
Security forces have reached Puducherry from New Delhi. Security forces have inspected the places where the President will visit. Security forces carried out a rehearsal involving over 20 security vehicles to ensure protocol for the President.
The President is expected to reach Lospet airport at 10.30 am on Monday. President Murmu will visit the Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER) to inaugurate a linear accelerator used in cancer treatment.
The President will have lunch and rest at the Court Guest House on Murmu Beach Road. The President will visit Murmu Sri Manakula Vinayagar Temple and later the Arts and Crafts Village at Murungapakkam. She will interact with the artisans here. President Thirukanchi will offer prayers at the Gangavaraga Natheswara Temple and will be present during the Ganga Aarti on the banks of the Sankarabarani river.
President Murmu will stay at Raj Bhavan and visit Sri Aurobindo Ashram on Tuesday and later leave for Auroville. She will visit the Matri Mandir in Auroville and inaugurate a conference, and also take part in a concert. She will return to New Delhi on Tuesday.
