Families will now get Rs 2 lakh compensation on the death of migrant laborers in Bihar
Patna (IANS). The Bihar government has increased the amount of compensation given to the families of migrant laborers from Rs 1 lakh to Rs 2 lakh in case of death in any accident. The proposal was approved in the cabinet meeting on Tuesday.
A total of nine proposals were approved in the cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.
After the meeting of the Council of Ministers, Dr. S. Siddharth, Additional Chief Secretary of the Cabinet Secretariat Department, said that in the rules of the Bihar State Migrant Laborer Accident Grant Scheme Rules, 2008 (as amended in the years 2011, 2014, 2016 and 2020) under the Department of Labor Resources Approval was given to implement the Bihar State Migrant Laborer Accident Grant Scheme (Amendment) Rules 2023 by amending it.
It is noteworthy that on the death of migrant laborers of Bihar in an accident, their families were given Rs. 1 lakh, Rs. 50 thousand has been done.
He informed that Rs 582 crore was approved for the subway construction scheme connecting Bihar Museum to Patna Museum in the meeting. Apart from this, approval was accorded to the draft memorandum of understanding regarding transfer of livelihood for implementation of social awareness and institutional development component under the National Urban Livelihood Mission under Urban Development and Housing Department.
In the meeting, under the Department of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, approval was given for the creation of a contract-based post of Scientific Officer cum Biospatial Analyst to conduct the work of the office of the Bihar State Biodiversity Board.
