Nawab Malik got big relief from SC, got bail
New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Friday granted interim bail to senior Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader and former Maharashtra minister Nawab Malik on medical grounds in an alleged money laundering case. A bench of Justices Aniruddha Bose and Bela M. Trivedi said that Malik was being treated for kidney and other ailments, hence the interim relief for two months was being granted on health grounds.
“We are passing the order only on medical grounds and nothing else,” the bench said in its order. The Enforcement Directorate arrested Malik in February 2022 under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). On Friday, the ED did not oppose his plea for bail in the Supreme Court. Malik was arrested by the ED in an alleged money-laundering case linked to a property deal with underworld links.
