Punjab Vigilance attached the properties of former Deputy Director of Food Supplies Department
Chandigarh (IANS). The Punjab Vigilance Bureau has attached four properties of former Deputy Director of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Rakesh Singla and his wife Rachna Singla. Officials gave this information on Sunday.
The action was taken on the interim attachment order passed on August 8 by the court of Special Judge, Ludhiana, Ajit Attri.
A case was registered on August 16, 2022 against former cabinet minister Bharat Bhushan Ashu, his aide Singla and others in connection with illegal allotment of labor and cartage tenders to contractors in 2020-21.
Singla was declared a proclaimed offender on December 3, 2022 and a Red Corner notice has also been issued against him.
A spokesperson of the Vigilance Bureau said that Singla had purchased several properties during his posting in the department and when he took charge as the chairman of the Central Vigilance Committee (CVC) of the Food Supplies Department.
During investigation, vigilance came to know that Singla had bought five properties in Ludhiana and Chandigarh.
He had bought these five properties in the name of his wife between 2011 and 2022. Of these, four properties located in Ludhiana have been attached.
Another case of disproportionate assets has been registered against both Singla and his wife and both are absconding in this case, they said.
