Water is being released from the reservoir on the instructions of the collector, farmers are happy
Mungeli. 350 cusecs of water is being released from the Rajiv Gandhi reservoir of Mungeli. District Panchayat President Lekhni Sonu Chandrakar demanded the Collector to release water from the dam in view of the problems of the farmers. After this, Collector Rahul Dev ordered the release of water in view of the problems faced by the farmers of the district. District Panchayat President Lekhni Sonu Chandrakar released water from the dam by rotating the lever in the presence of officials of the Water Resources Department in the Rajiv Gandhi Reservoir.
Please tell that 154.3 mm of rain has been recorded in Lormi area so far this year. At the same time, a total of 138.1 mm of rainfall has been recorded in all the three development blocks of Mungeli, Lormi, Pathariya and Mungeli. There was no rain in the area for the last 10 days, due to which the farmers were worried about the damage to the paddy crop. In such a situation, the district administration has released 350 cusecs of water from the dam in view of the problems of the farmers. 129 cusecs of water is also flowing through the rivers from Rajiv Gandhi’s waste ware.
Rajiv Gandhi Reservoir, also known as Khudia Dam, is the biggest dam of the district. These days it is full. Due to having more than 100 percent water in the dam, water continues to flow from the dam’s waste ware. According to the Water Resources Department official, 129 cusecs of water is being released from the dam’s waste ware, which is flowing through the Maniyari river. After the release of water from the dam, the farmers who were waiting for rain have got a big relief.
