Akshay Kumar gets Indian Citizenship, shares proof on Instagram

Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar has officially become an Indian citizen. Sharing the news on his Instagram account, Akshay displayed a photograph of his official government documents confirming the change in citizenship status. The actor, who was previously a Canadian citizen, has now taken Indian citizenship, a decision that has occasionally sparked debate and critique from certain quarters.

Taking to his Instagram handle, Akshay Kumar shared a snapshot of his legal document, which now identifies him as “Akshay Hariom Bhatia.” While sharing the picture, he wrote, “Dil aur citizenship, dono Hindustani. Happy Independence Day! Jai Hind! 🇮🇳.”
The post has already garnered more than 131k likes and several congratulatory messages from his ardent fans, who also extended warm wishes on India’s Independence Day.

One user wrote, “Haters ke pass ek chiz thi bolne ke liye ab wo bhi chali gayi Jai Hind 🇮🇳.”

Another wrote, “Bold aur capital mein INDIAN likhenge abse 🇮🇳.”

Earlier this year, the actor announced his decision to renounce his Canadian passport. The actor has often faced criticism over the issue of his citizenship.
