AIADMK to launch campaign against ‘deteriorating’ law and order in Tamil Nadu
Chennai (IANS). AIADMK is planning a state level agitation against the deteriorating law and order situation in Tamil Nadu. Party sources told IANS that the party’s state general secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami (EPS) has met senior leaders to organize a mass program across the state to highlight the law and order situation after the DMK assumed power.
In a press statement on Friday, the EPS blamed the government for the deteriorating law and order situation in the state.
He has also raised issues like attack on a police officer by students in Perambur, attack on a jail official by a foreign prisoner.
The AIADMK plans to highlight the large number of gang wars taking place across the state and the caste-based feuds and murders in southern Tamil Nadu.
According to sources, the party will also highlight the public relations exercise of the government machinery to build the image of the chief minister when the law and order situation is abysmal.
The AIADMK will also raise the issue of drug circulation among school students in several districts of the state and the escape of many gangsters from getting caught in the act.
Speaking to IANS, a senior AIADMK leader, who did not wish to be named, said, “The state is turning into a drug capital and many networks are involved in drug smuggling and Tamil Nadu has become a transit point for it.” is changing. The proceeds of crime are used for terror funding in some areas and many youths are falling prey to this trap. The police which should be strict to curb this crime is turning a blind eye to it and we are planning a massive agitation across the state against this menace.
