15 kg heroin seized, police expose cross border smuggling gang
Chandigarh: The Punjab Police has busted a cross-border drug smuggling racket by arresting a smuggler. 15 kg of heroin has been recovered from the smuggler. Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav gave this information on Wednesday.
The arrested smuggler has been identified as Harpreet Singh, a native of Chohla Sahib, who currently lives in Amritsar. Apart from recovering the heroin, the police have also seized a car in which he was traveling. DGP Yadav said that after receiving inputs, the Amritsar rural police launched an intelligence-based operation at the police station in Kathunangal and arrested the accused Harpreet Singh after recovering a consignment of heroin from his car. The heroin was kept hidden in a sack.
He told that the police have also named four accomplices of the accused Harpreet. The named persons have been identified as Gagandeep Singh, Rahul Singh, Harpreet Singh alias Happy Jatt and Gagandeep Singh. DIG (Border Range, Amritsar) Narinder Bhargava said that preliminary investigation revealed that the heroin belonged to Happy Jatt and Harpreet Singh. He told that Happy Jatt is the main gangster and most wanted drug smuggler of the area.
