New Delhi: Father Nicholas Dias, Secretary of the Liturgy Commission of Delhi Archdiocese, has described US President Joe Biden as a ‘very humble’ person. He said that his grandmother was a great influence in his life. He met with Biden at a hotel on Saturday, the first day of the two-day G-20 summit, where the Holy Communion service was held.
He prayed for the G-20 summit and the success of both India and the US. Father Dias said the US President is a “very humble” person and expressed his gratitude for taking time out for prayer. He said Biden told him about the influence of Christianity on him and his closeness to Pope Francis.
We had a short conversation, Father Dias said, where he told how his grandmother was a great influence in his life and his Catholic upbringing. The priest also shared with them Bebinka, a Goan dish which he had taken with him.
Before the meeting ended, Biden handed over Presidential Seal No. 261 to Father Dias. Father Dias said that this will always be remembered. He also told Biden about the relics of St. Francis Xavier in Old Goa and the decennial exhibition to be held next year in the coastal state. Father Dias also told President Biden that St. Francis Xavier was the inspiration behind his vocation.
The priest said, ‘I also told Biden that I am close to two saints, Mother Teresa and Pope John Paul II. Father Dias recalled that he was with the Pope when he released the document ‘Ecclesia de Asia’ in New Delhi.

He said Biden told him about the influence of Christianity on him and his closeness to Pope Francis. Father Dias said, “We had a short conversation where he talked about how his grandmother has influenced his life and his Catholic upbringing.” The priest also took with him Bebinaka, a special dish of Goa, which he fed to Biden. . Before concluding the meeting, Biden presented him a memento, Presidential Seal No. 261.

At the same time, US President Joe Biden left for Vietnam on Sunday morning after paying tribute to Mahatma Gandhi at the memorial Rajghat here. Biden, in his first visit to India as US President, arrived in the national capital on Friday to attend the two-day G20 summit and held bilateral talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the same day. In their over 50-minute conversation, Modi and Biden pledged to “deepen and diversify” the bilateral major defense partnership. He welcomed India’s purchase of 31 drones and move towards jointly developing jet engines. Biden also participated in key sessions of the G20 summit on Saturday.
