UP: Continuous rain in Moradabad breaks 14 year record
The rainfall in Moradabad on Sunday is the highest in the last 14 years. There was 162.2 mm rainfall in 14 hours from around 4 am to 6 pm on Sunday. Earlier in the year 2009, there was 122 mm rainfall in one day in the month of September. Meteorologists say that this is also the highest rainfall of this season in a single day. There are chances of cloudy sky and light rain on Monday. It started raining before people woke up on Sunday morning.
It rained continuously throughout the day. It rained heavily from afternoon till evening. Not even once throughout the day did it feel like the weather would open. There were dark dense clouds and the wind speed was also fast at times. The clouds kept raining continuously till six in the evening. Officials at the data collection center of the Meteorological Department say that till 8 am there was 10.2 mm rainfall. After this, 152 mm clouds rained throughout the day till 6 pm.
In this way, in just 14 hours the rain broke the record of the last 14 years. This year, Sunday has seen the highest rainfall of the season in a single day. Earlier on August 23, 117.6 mm rainfall was recorded, while on August 4, 101.4 mm rainfall was recorded. In this way, for the third time in this monsoon season, there has been rainfall of more than 100 mm.
Clouds rained more than the average rainfall for the month of September
Meteorologists say that the average rainfall in the month of September is 153 mm. Due to 162.2 mm rainfall on Sunday, it became more than the average rainfall of the entire month. This year it rained for the third day in the first ten days of the month of September. There was 1.4 mm rain on August 8. There was 54.2 mm rainfall on September 9. 217.8 mm of rain fell in these three days.
Temperature remained six degrees Celsius below normal
The maximum temperature recorded on Sunday was 25.8 degrees Celsius. It was six degrees Celsius below normal. The minimum temperature was recorded at 23 degrees Celsius. In the last 24 hours, the maximum temperature dropped by one degree Celsius and the minimum temperature dropped by .5 degree Celsius. The wind was from east to west at a speed of five kilometers per hour.
