Abhishek Banerjee reached ED office for questioning
Kolkata (IANS). Trinamool Congress national general secretary and party’s Lok Sabha member Abhishek Banerjee on Wednesday reached the Enforcement Directorate (ED) office in Salt Lake’s CGO complex for questioning in the cash-for-jobs case worth crores of rupees in a school.
He left his residence in Kalighat in South Kolkata at around 11.10 am and reached the ED office at 11.32 am. After reaching CGO Complex, he went straight to the ED office without answering the questions of media persons.
This is the first time that he will have to face ED questioning in the school job case.
Earlier, ED had called him for questioning in the same case on June 13. However, he did not come. On May 20, Banerjee was interrogated for nine hours by CBI officials in the school recruitment case. However, Banerjee had described the result of that marathon inquiry as “zero”.
Meanwhile, the Trinamool Congress leadership has claimed that Abhishek Banerjee’s decision to honor the ED notice and not attend the crucial first meeting of the coordination committee of opposition parties is proof that he does not want to face any investigation. Are afraid.
However, the opposition Congress and CPI(M) have claimed that Banerjee is showing her brave face only after the ED has given a verbal assurance to the Calcutta High Court of not taking any action till the final decision is taken on the plea to remove her name. ,
