Central government reduced wheat stock limit
Wheat Stock Limit: In view of the rising prices, the government has immediately reduced the stock holding limit for wheat traders, wholesalers and retailers from 3,000 tonnes to 2,000 tonnes. Giving information about the decision, Food Secretary Sanjeev Chopra said that this decision has been taken after reviewing the stock limit. Three months ago, on June 12, the government had increased the wheat stock limit for these traders to 3,000 tonnes till March 2024. However,
now it has been reduced. In fact, the government observed that in the last one month, wheat prices on NCDEX have increased by four percent and have reached Rs 2,550 per quintal. The Food Secretary said that there is sufficient quantity of wheat in the country and some people are trying to create artificial shortage. On the other hand, Nepal government will import 20,000 MT of sugar from India ahead of upcoming festivals including Dussehra Diwali to meet the domestic demand.
