Journalist arrested: Mehbooba alleges ‘intimidation’
Srinagar (IANS). Jammu and Kashmir Police arrested a local journalist in Srinagar on Friday. Former Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti called it an attempt to “intimidate” while the police strongly denied her allegation.
Police on Friday arrested Majid Hydari, a local journalist, from his residence in Peerbagh area of Srinagar city.
Reacting to the arrest, Mehbooba Mufti posted on X, “The arrest of Majid Hydari late last night has exposed the nexus between thugs and some intelligence agencies. He was dragged from his home like a wanted terrorist without any legal action.
“His mother and sister requested to see the warrant but this was also denied. Journalists who expose scams like this are accused of intimidation and defamation.”
Responding to his allegation, Srinagar Police on its official /2023 has been registered. Majid Hydari son of Jahangir Hydari resident of Peerbagh was arrested on charges of criminal conspiracy, threat, extortion, giving false information, defamation etc.
“The family was clearly informed about the order of the Honorable Court in this regard. It is requested that please do not fall victim to the misinformation campaign by vested interests.”
