Overwhelmed by his charismatic performance, Mohammad Siraj became the number-1 bowler
Indian fast bowler Mohammed Siraj has achieved the number-1 position in the ICC ODI rankings after his charismatic performance against Sri Lanka in the Asia Cup final. Siraj took the top spot for the first time in January this year and was overtaken by Josh Hazlewood in March. However, they have jumped back to the top spot after their memorable and lethal performance against Sri Lanka in the Asia Cup final. His performance enabled India to win by 10 wickets to clinch their eighth Asia Cup title. Asia Cup-2023 was great for Siraj. He took 10 wickets in the tournament at an average of 12.2. Other bowlers to move up in the rankings include Afghanistan spinners Mujeeb-ur Rahman (up two places to fourth) and Rashid Khan (up three places to fifth). England’s pace all-rounder Chris Woakes is at 11th position while South Africa’s pacer Lungi Ngidi is at 21st.
