Assam schools will remain open on Gandhi Jayanti

Guwahati (IANS). The Assam government has announced that schools across the state will remain open to observe Gandhi Jayanti on October 2 as the International Day of Non-Violence. Officials gave this information on Saturday.

According to the notification of the state education department, in view of the International Day of Non-Violence being celebrated globally on October 2, it has been decided to celebrate the day in all the schools across the state.

Schools will remain open to organize programs and activities to remind students of the culture of inclusive unity.

The notification further mentions that the oath of non-violence will be administered to school students on that day.
