Nara Lokesh Receives Notice By CID Regarding Ring Road Case, Questioning On Oct 4
TDP National General Secretary and son of N Chandrababu Naidu, Nara Lokesh has been served a notice by the Andhra Pradesh CID for questioning in the Amaravati Inner Ring Road case. He received the notice after the CID officials showed up at the residence of TDP MP Jayadev Galla in New Delhi and has been asked to appear for interrogation on October 4. He is currently in the national capital holding consultations with legal experts regarding the cases registered against his father.
This comes a day after the Andhra Pradesh High Court on September 29 restrained the CID from arresting Lokesh until October 4 in another case of the alleged Skill Development Corporation Scam. The case also involves his father and former Andhra CM Naidu who allegedly caused misappropriation of funds and led to a loss of more than Rs 300 to the exchequer.
Apart from the Skill Development case, Lokesh submitted another petition seeking anticipatory bail in a third case about the AP Fibernet Project. This project was aimed at providing Internet and telephone services to all households in the state but the alleged irregularities led to a scam of Rs 321 crore.
Nara Lokesh claims cases result of ‘political vendetta’
While seeking anticipatory bail in the cases, Lokesh has claimed that the Inner Ring Road case is the result of a ‘political vendetta’ against him. The CID, on the other hand, says that there is a ‘deep-rooted’ economic offence with conspiracy.
In a memo, the agency alleged that Lokesh tried to benefit by changing the order of the inner ring road and also played a key role in the scam. The CID alleged that corrupt activities were committed by highly placed officials in the Andhra government between 2014 to 2019 regarding the designing of the master plan for Andhra Pradesh’s capital city Amaravati and the alignment of ring road and arterial roads. Lokesh was named as accused number 14 in the case.
