Unruly truck crushed 10 laborers sleeping on the roadside, 5 died
Buldhana: In a horrific accident on the Nandura-Malkapur state highway in Buldhana, Maharashtra, a speeding truck crushed 10 laborers sleeping on the roadside. Five died on the spot in this accident. Malkapur SDPO Devram Gawli said the incident took place around 5.30 am when a truck carrying a consignment of apples went off the highway and ran over 10 workers engaged in road repair work. Police said the driver fled from the spot.
SDPO Devram Gawli told news agency IANS that the victims were far away from the main road and it seemed that the truck had lost its way, leading to the tragedy. Preliminary investigation revealed that the driver may have dozed off while driving. He left the truck. At present he is absconding and we have started searching for him. In this horrific accident, five workers died on the spot and five others were seriously injured, including two in critical condition, and were taken to nearby Chopde Hospital. The deceased were identified as Abhishek R. Jambhekar (18), Prakash B. Jambhekar (26), has been identified as Pankaj T. Jambhekar (25). SDPO Gawli said that further investigation in the matter is going on.
