TMC leader shot dead
Kolkata (IANS). A local Trinamool Congress leader was shot dead by unidentified miscreants in his hatchery in Murshidabad district of West Bengal.
The deceased has been identified as 52-year-old Probir Das. He is the husband of an active local level leader of the ruling party and a Trinamool Congress gram panchayat member in Suti.
According to the hatchery staff, after a hard day’s work, Probir Das was resting at the hatchery. Suddenly an unknown miscreant reached there and fired three bullets from a revolver at close range.
A bullet passed through Das’s head, killing him on the spot. However, he was taken to a local hospital, where doctors declared him dead.
A police team led by Farakka sub-divisional police officer Raspreet Singh has already reached the spot. The murder of the TMC leader has increased tension in the area.
Police has started the investigation of the matter. Police are trying to find out whether it was a result of personal enmity or conflict of political interests. However, the victim’s family has claimed that he was murdered due to a political clash.
Sushant Das, brother of the deceased, claimed, “My brother never had any personal enmity with anyone.” The dead body has been sent for post-mortem.”
