Two associates of Bambiha gang arrested in Punjab
Chandigarh (IANS). The Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) of Punjab Police has arrested two associates of Bambiha gang in an operation. Punjab Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav gave this information on Wednesday.
Those arrested have been identified as Avtar Singh alias Gora and Ajay Kumar alias Preet Pandit. Police have also recovered four pistols, three 32 bore and one 30 bore, apart from six magazines and 16 cartridges from their possession.
“Following the input, a team of AGTF led by AIG AGTF Sandeep Goyal under the supervision of ADGP Pramod Ban in a joint operation arrested both the accused from Dhakoli when they were going on their motorcycle,” DGP Yadav said.
Accused Gora, a close associate of gangster Gurbux Savewal, was declared a proclaimed offender (PO) in two criminal cases, including a double murder in Jaito in 2014.
The DGP said both the accused were involved in providing logistics support, hideouts and weapons to the Bambiha gang members and were planning to commit sensational crimes in the state. Further investigation is ongoing and more revelations about the crimes committed by the Bambiha gang are expected to emerge during the investigation.
