Hockey India announces 20-member squad for Women’s Asian Champions Trophy
New Delhi (IANS). Hockey India on Wednesday announced a 20-member women’s squad for the prestigious Women’s Asian Champions Trophy to be held in Jharkhand from October 27 to November 5.
India recently won the bronze medal in the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou. Now ready for a new tournament. Savita will lead the team and Deep Grace Ekka will be the vice-captain.
India will start its campaign against Thailand on October 27. Then, the team will face Malaysia on October 28.
India’s third match will be against China on 30 October and against Japan on 31 October. After this the team will play its last pool match against Korea on November 2.
The semi-finals and final of the tournament will be played on November 4 and 5 respectively.
Speaking on the upcoming competition, head coach Janek Schopman said, “This is an important tournament to continue our momentum and our continued improvement as a team.
“We will get an opportunity to apply what we learned from Hangzhou and test ourselves once again. With the tournament being held in Ranchi, Jharkhand, we will be looking forward to giving our best performance in front of the home fans and showcasing our progress as a team.” Looking forward to.”
