Government will reduce tax on tourist vehicles, Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu said

Shimla. CM Sukhu said that along with road connectivity, air services are also being strengthened in the state. The work of connecting all the districts with heliport is in progress. Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu said that the state government will reduce the Special Road Tax (SRT) and other taxes levied on tourist buses, tempo travelers and commercial tourist vehicles. He said that the state government is seriously considering revising the recently issued notification in view of SRT. The Chief Minister said this during his meeting with the delegation of Shimla Hotels and Tourism Stakeholders Association at Oak Over.

The Chief Minister said that the government is going to bring home-stay policy soon. Tourism infrastructure is being strengthened in the state and concrete steps are being taken for the convenience of tourists. He said that for the convenience of tourists, tourist helpline will also be started soon and it will also be considered to link it with 1100 helpline.

CM Sukhu said that along with road connectivity, air services are also being strengthened in the state. The work of connecting all the districts with heliport is in progress. He said that the state government is also considering construction of another heliport in Shimla. Only by strengthening the tourism infrastructure, tourism activities in the state will expand and the target of inflow of 5 crore tourists every year will be achieved. He said that efforts are being made to ensure longer stay of tourists in the tourist destinations of the state.

The Chief Minister said that the state government is committed to providing world class facilities to the tourists in the state. Many innovative initiatives are being taken in this direction. UV/ultra filtration technology will be used in a phased manner to provide pure drinking water to the people of the state and tourists. CM Sukhu urged the tourism businessmen to ensure their participation in making the state a green state by ensuring the use of electric vehicles in tourism activities. Shimla Hotel and Tourism Stakeholders Association President Mahendra Seth informed the Chief Minister about his various demands.
