Assam Rifles recovered drugs worth Rs 1.17 crore in Champhai, one arrested
Champhai (ANI): In a joint operation, Assam Rifles along with Mizoram Police recovered 168 grams of heroin worth Rs 1.17 crore from Talangsam village in Mizoram’s Champhai district and arrested one person, an Assam Rifles official said on Monday. Did.
The arrested person has been identified as Lalmingmawia, 61, a resident of Champhai district.
“Assam Rifles in collaboration with Mizoram Police recovered 168 grams of No. 4 Heroin worth Rs 1.17 crore from general area of Tlangsam, Champhai, Mizoram on October 21, 2023,” Assam Rifles said in a publication in X.
Earlier, in a joint operation, Assam Rifles and Anti-Narcotics Squad recovered heroin worth Rs 2.74 crore in three separate operations in Bawangkon General Area of South Aizawl, Tlangsam and Zote in Mizoram, an official said. People were arrested. the statement said on Sunday. Based on specific information, the operation was conducted by a joint team of Assam Rifles and Anti-Narcotics Squad, Aizawl and Champhai District Police Department.
According to the official statement, the recovered consignment and the arrested persons were handed over to Aizawl’s Excise and Narcotics Department (Anti-Narcotics Squad) and Champahi Police for further legal proceedings. Earlier this month, Assam Rifles under Inspector General Assam Rifles (East) had recovered 17 cartons of foreign origin cigarettes, 88 cartons of beer, 15 cartons and 2 bottles of whiskey and 16 cartons of liquor worth Rs 26.86 lakh in Champhai district.
The operation was conducted by a joint team of Assam Rifles and Custom Preventive Force Champhai based on specific information in the general area of World Bank Road (Zokawthar-Melbuk).
