Congress wiped out 22 MLAs
Raipur . Congress has announced candidates for 90 assembly seats for Chhattisgarh assembly elections. Congress has given opportunity to many new faces in the list of 90 candidates. In the last assembly elections, 71 Congress MLAs had won the elections, out of which tickets of a total of 22 sitting MLAs have been canceled. However, many MLAs are unhappy with the ticket being cut and have rebelled against the Congress. Congress has announced candidates for Chhattisgarh assembly elections in three parts. In which 30 candidates were announced in the first list, 53 in the second list and 7 in the final list. Tickets were given to 32 tribals and also from general seats. Chhattisgarh Assembly Elections 2023 is going to be held in two phases.
Elections are to be held for 20 seats in the first phase and 70 assembly seats in the second phase. Meanwhile, Congress has announced candidates for 90 assembly seats. Talking about the social equation of Congress on 90 seats, the party has distributed tickets keeping an eye on every section. Whereas Congress has given preference to tribal candidates on most of the seats. 29 seats are reserved for Scheduled Tribes but Congress has fielded 32 tribals. Meaning, tribal candidates have been fielded in three unreserved assembly constituencies also. 10 Scheduled Caste candidates have been fielded on reserved seats.
Apart from reserved seats, general seats include 9 Kurmi candidates, 9 Sahu candidates, 8 Brahmin candidates, three Yadav candidates, two Aghariya candidates, 2 Sikh candidates, two Kalar candidates, one Lodhi candidate, one Manikpuri candidate, one Dewangan candidate, one Nishad candidate. One Muslim candidate,
one Bania candidate, one Marwari candidate, one Kayastha candidate, one Rajwar candidate and four Thakur candidates have been made. Out of 90, 30 OBC candidates have been fielded. Meaning 33% tickets have been given to Other Backward Classes. The upper castes have been fielded on 15 out of 90 seats. Minority candidates have been fielded on three seats. Tribal candidates on 3 general seats: Prem Nagar, Katghora and Basna are general seats. But here Congress has made tribals its candidates. Khelsai Singh from Prem Nagar, Purushottam Kanwar from Katghora and Devendra Bahadur Singh from Basna.
Congress’s third list of 7 candidates released
Chhattisgarh Congress has released its third and final list for the assembly elections late on Sunday night. In this way, Congress has declared names for all 90 seats. In this, tickets of four MLAs have been cut. The party has once again expressed confidence in Kuldeep Juneja from Raipur North Assembly seat. Ambika Singhdev has again been fielded in Bankuthpur. Gurmukh Singh Hora had contested the Dhamtari seat from Congress in 2018 but lost.
His ticket has also been canceled and given to Omkar Sahu. Sandeep Sahu from Kasdol, Chaturinand from Saraipali, Rashmi Chandrakar from Mahasamund, Ambika Markam from Sihawa have been given tickets. In this way, so far a total of 18 women and 29 candidates from OBC category have been fielded in the 90 seats of the state.
Tickets of 8 out of 30 MLAs cut in the first list
Navagarh – Gurudayal Banjare, Pandaria – Mamta Chandrakar, Dongargarh – Bhuvaneshwar Baghel, Khujji – Chhani Sahu, Antagarh – Anup Nag, Chitrakote – Rajman Benjamin, Dantewada – Devti Karma Kanker – Shishupal Sori.
10 out of 53 tickets canceled in the second list
