Head constable murdered, police opened fire on the killers, 4 arrested
Barnala (Punjab): In the case of murder of head constable Darshan Singh in Barnala, Punjab, police have arrested 4 accused after a brief encounter, in which one accused is injured. Police have recovered 1 pistol and 2 live cartridges from the accused. DGP Gaurav Yadav posted the information on X and said that the police has succeeded in arresting all the criminals in less than 24 hours.
On this matter, SSP Sandeep Kumar Malik said that on October 22, there was a fight in a restaurant over the bill. On information, a police team reached the spot. The police had tried to pacify the four youths who were quarreling with the restaurant owner. But Paramjit Singh Pamma, Gurumeet Singh, Jagraj Singh Raja and Wazir Singh attacked the police. In which Darshan Singh was seriously injured. He died in the hospital during treatment. All four youths are Kabaddi players.
Let us tell you, this incident happened late night on Sunday 22nd October. Four Kabaddi players who had come to eat at a restaurant in Barnala had a fight with the restaurant staff over outstanding bills. As soon as information about the matter was received, the police reached the spot. After this, when Head Constable Darshan Singh and other policemen started taking the Kabaddi players in the vehicle to take them to the police station, the accused attacked the police. Head constable Darshan Singh was seriously injured in this attack. He was admitted to a private hospital, where he died during treatment.
Expressing grief over the death of Head Constable Darshan Singh, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann announced financial assistance of Rs 1 crore to his family. He also said that the government will give Rs 1 crore to the victim’s family. Apart from this, Rs 1 crore will also be given separately from HDFC Bank.
